The Lesbian Experience - A Brief History
Until he was 16, no lesbian mother at the time had ever been awarded custody. The disputes in the courts were always to do with breakdowns of heteronomative marriages. It was considered that if you were a lesbian, you were, by definition, an unfit mother. Most sperm donations came from medical students and doctors. Their identities were kept anonymous.
