The Importance of Verdancy in the Bible
John Steinbeck was born in 1902 and died in 1968. He's best known for works like of Myse and Men, the Grapes of Frath, and this. East of Eden is literally a quote from the Canaan able story. I think that is more important to it to Eden being in the title than the valley being a garden of Eden - which is referenced once in the center of the book.
