The Arthur Cycle
In the 12 and 13 hundreds, the arthur cycle comes to be ritualized and dramatized. It receives a sort of royal impromater as a framework for royal mythology. In the year 13, forty four king edward the third held a round table tournament. He apparently used this round table as a way of trying to deal with this problem. And he made an announcement that he was creating a new order of knighthood patterned on arthur and camelot.
