The Beaman Memorial Library
Ezra Beaman founded Les Blalston in the way that most New England towns were founded, by seceding from another town. In 1911, when the new town center was just being built after the reservoir was filled, Ezra Beaman's great-grandson funded the building of a new town library. It opened at the height of the Progressive Era, when public libraries represented the vanguard of democracy.
