Rubic applied for a blue passport, meaning one that would allow him to travel outside his country's borders. At age 36, he left eastern europe and flew to the us on his very first business trip. The marketing plan was to launch the colorful toy with a bang. But as it turnd out, demonstrations where volunteers couldn't solve the problem became the best advertisement for the problem. In 19 81, two books were published about the cube, not written by rubic, but by cube enthusiasts. By december of 19 82, a hundred million rubix cubes had sold world wide.
