The Different Types of Left Atrial Appendage Therapy

Atrial clip is a surgical epicardial appendage removal. It can be done by open chest, concomitant clip placement or thoracoscopic minimally invasive surgical placement. Lariat has maybe a 20% failure rate where surgical ligation, maybe 30%, age or clip, pretty close to 0% when it's placed in the right spot. Endocardial occlusion devices were originally intended for patients who are totally contraindicated anticoagulation and have really large left atrial appendages.
