The Fed continues to talk about how financial conditions are restrictive. But the goods producing side of the economy is speeding up, and that's exactly the opposite of what you think would happen. Jay Powell went to great pains to paint himself as the next poll voker who vanquished inflation. He starts off every meeting saying inflation hurts. And so, perhaps they're long and variable lags with fiscal policy as well.
