The Origins of the Rubella Infection
Australian pediatric ophthalmologist Norman McAllister Greg noticed an unusual number of parents bringing in their babies with the same concerns. He asked around to other colleagues whether they had seen similar cataracts in babies or young children. A rubella infection during pregnancy was associated with a suite of eye problems, but that it wasn't limited to just the eyes. In 1941, he compiled his findings into a report that he presented at the Optimalogical Society of Australia.
