Management of Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome in the Emergency Department

This chapter covers the challenges of identifying and treating patients with cannabis hyperemesis syndrome in the emergency department, emphasizing the importance of a compassionate approach. It discusses the evaluation of dopamine antagonists, capsaicin, and topical capsaicin in treating CHS, comparing them to standard therapies and emphasizing their effectiveness and potential side effects. A case study is presented where a patient with CHS was successfully managed with Halloparidol, IV fluids, and capsaicin application, showcasing the positive outcomes of this treatment approach.
