The Importance of Person First Language in Addiction
The word addict describing people as addicts is not helpful. The preferred terminology is person with addiction to use what's called person first language, much in the same way that we don't call people autistics in the noun form of people with autism. A lot of it does revolve around fear. We need all of these different explanations from the biological from the personal from the humanistic, the community level, the social. I think just to do the unwinding of the single simple explanations would be a tremendous advance.
