The Dot in the Line was an adaptation of a children's book about a dot that falls in love with a line. Maurice wouldn't show director Chuck Jones what he was working on, which led to tension between them. The film is this pure distillation of Maurice's work: He's telling a story, creating emotions and humor with just basic shapes and colors.
