The History of Muhammad

In 570, a man by the name of Muhammad was born. This is a man that would one day be known to the Muslims as their prophet. Not much is actually known of his childhood other than he was orphaned at a very early age and came under the protection of his extended family. It was around the year 610, according to Islamic scripture, that Muhammad began to have visions. He began to have revelations of what he perceived as the word of God. These were given to him by the angel Gabriel at the cave of Hira,. on a mountain known as Jabbal al-Nur, meaning the mountain of light.
