The way the story of Exodus is told with elaborate preparations for festivals that have some tensions between them in various parts of this section, it suggests that this story in Exodus reflects later realities. It's not like the Exodus stories made up in the 6th century. There are traditions, we have multiple traditions, but they're ironed out, they're put together here.
