Carlos was disbarred in August. His law career finished in disgrace after clients had accused him of spending their money that he'd held in trust. He hadn't told Peggy about the mistress of ten years, the one-time shop assistant from Puerto Rico. There were things that Peggy would never learn about her husband, Carlos. So that night the car with the gunman ambushed them on a dark road.
