The War on Poverty, the War in Vietnam, and Johnson's Presidency
In many ways, he makes a trade off between this metaphorical war and the real war that he's waging. And what ends up happening is, in a way,. in a way, he loses them both. Even though these programmes were very effective, they start to get a reputation as not being as effective as they could be. That johnson himself recognized before, a before he died, that he had traded the war on poverty for the war in viet nam - it was a bad trade.
