The sanctions imposed by the USA on Russia have been a spectacular failure. The price of oil and gas has soared to unheard of levels. Vladimir Putin pockets the money, puts it in his pocket, he used it to finance his war machine with the proceeds. By the West, he faced with the prospect of a freezing winter with soaring energy bills and rising public anger.
