There's a meeting that happens in New Amsterdam, rather than New York. There's cars that work on salt water instead of fuel and so smell of the sea. These details seem to be kind of background things, little jolts just to remind the reader that actually it's all made up. Bambel could attempt to give us the world back around us, but give us theworld fresh, make it new in some way.
