The system uses the computer's microphone and webcam to seemingly hear and see the real human on the other end. It has the contextual awareness to know it's supposed to be chatting as if on a video call. When you say his name, he smiles a little bit. And if I smile at him, he'll smile back. In time, we might end up building a number of different versions of Jack.
