The First Official Concentration Camps in Human History
By 1898, one-third of all Cubans had been moved into concentration camps. Between two and four hundred thousand of them would die there. The camps were poorly built and most of the houses had no roofs. No provision was made to feed or take care of the captives who were being forced into these walled camps.
