Are You Asking Me to Ground My Morality in the Bible?
i think that perfectionist thinking, that we have to have this infallible grounding for anything we know and do on a moral front is often what's feeding desire to go grounded in the text. And i understand the argument. I mean, ye, it's a good thing to have. But the promise, if you don't have the bible, how do can ground your morality? My responses, are you asking me to ground my morality in the bible? Because there are a lot of things there, you know. The bible assumes the continuation of slavery. You do truly ground your morality in the Bible - you should be riht, no, and for a very long time.
