The Ups and Downs of Being an Independent Artist
"It's my first time really just kicking it. So to me, I don't really feel like I'm interviewing a motherfucker," he says of his interview with Kanye West. "Being independent is great, you know, and I've had my ups and downs with Deaf Jam and Universal ... But at the end of the day, man, they changed my life." He adds: "I always looked at it like that was the number one thing that I always was afraid of with being with a major": losing creative control.
