The Problem Is How to Freeze Water

Ice has a density that is very similar to that of liquid water. If researchers could just stop all the molecules from moving, there'd be a chance to see where each is and how that arrangement affects the properties. But when you freeze it, they rearrange into different crystal structures with lower density which is why it floats.
