Stalin is an interesting person to look at to explore this tension between a cosmopolitan vision of socialism and maybe something we could say is like more of a provincial or hasn't oriented type of socialism, right? The Mensheviks are trying to speak to a form of peasant centric, Georgian national identity. Stalin at the time, when he's still a militant revolutionary, is more interested in this empire-wide cosmopolitan, proletariat-centric vision of what socialism could be.
