Are the Ocean Currents Warming the Arctic Ocean?

Research into Pliocene sea surface temperatures and ocean temperatures has shown that especially off in the high Arctic and the North Atlantic you would see warmer temperatures than we have in the present day. It's a matter of ocean currents bringing the warmth up from the southern equatorial parts of the Atlantic. And that will affect the weather then as well. I'd be very intrigued to know whether or not any of these DNA records could go back even further in time. In other words a bit further into our own future or a bit more recent and understand our own sort of climate conditions better.
