The 5-Second Roll: A Real Thing?
Researchers from Rutgers University in the United States used a scientific approach to look into the matter. They experimented with four different surfaces, stainless steel, ceramic tiles, wood and carpet. Four different types of food were drops onto each surface for durations ranging from less than a second up to five minutes. The results actually debunked the 5-Second Roll. No matter how long the food items spent on the floor, they were always contaminated by bacteria. You're much more likely to get food poisoning from food that has already been contaminated.
