Therapists need to be more intentional about being partners in reducing the gap, says Ely. The idea that african americans are situated within contexti is so significantly important. We can't address any treatment problem without recognizing that it exists within a context of being marginalized and systemically oppressed historically. To addresing it might even require us to be incredibly uncomfortable wen we sit with some of that experience.
