The Story of Mount Megs

The Alabama Industrial School for Negro Children was founded in 1907 by the daughter of an enslaved woman. It was a state-run institution meant to rehabilitate black children out of adult prisons, but it did just the opposite. Many kids ended up dead at Mount Megs; many don't even know they were there. The school's history is unknown due to poor record keeping and bad luck.
