The New Decree of Haman
The new decree is almost exactly the same as the original one, andit allows for a seemingly insane situation. The jews are permitted to defend themselves and to apply lethal force against their adversary s without any fear of reprisal from the government. While their enemies can act with impunity, they can also do so. This is why it's important that mordecai's decree be at least as severe as the decree of haman if it is to be effective against it.
