The Story of Palladius and the Christianization of Ireland

The Christian missionary Palladius arrived in Ireland preaching to early Christians and converting pagans was by no means an easy task. In medieval Ireland a kind of DIY Christianity seems to have emerged where monasteries became church centers without cities. By the seventh century Christianity was unquestionably the dominant belief system in Ireland. However it would not take long before the church and its unusual structure faced attack.
