Is there a way to calculate the distance and travel time and the arc account for gravity and then say that for it to reach this particular point, it would have to slow down this much? Yes. The angle they're giving it is the angle the ball is leaving the bat with the horizontal. But that's not the angle that matters here. They're doing it wrong.
