How to Normalize Your Data for Political Alignment
If you ask Democrat Republican independent, independence is going to be the smallest group. You should do a rowwise normalization so that you see the distribution on a scale of 0 to 100% across different groups. Slice and dice the data whatever way you want, but be very careful in how you present your interpretation to your stakeholders.
