Donna Gaines' Life and Career
Donna Gaines played Sheila in the Munich production of Hair. The musical opened in Germany in October 1968. More important to Donna than the show was Germany itself. Relocating there did for the future Donna summer what gigs in Hamburg had done for the young Beatles at the turn of the 60s, or what Berlin would do for David Bowie in the 1970s. Her powerful voice attracted the notice of the European music industry.
