The British Military Situation in the 1930s

The League would officially declare that the Italian invasion was an active aggression. Britain and France had to as the League's most important members either take actions that would alienate them from the Italians or essentially remove whatever power the League of Nations had at this point. There was hesitancy to do either of these actions though and instead the League would continue to drift while a middle ground was sought with economic sanctions put in place but mild ones that did not include some vital commodities like oil.
