Copper and the Mitochondria

Oxygen is one of those chemical elements that can freely diffuse through cells. When nitric oxide is released inside the mitochondria, it actually inhibits the availability of cyclochromoxidase to catalyze oxygen into water. This cycle is happening all the time as we have a local increase in oxygenated blood coupled with the activity in the brain.
