Basic features are the things customers expect in a product, usually mapping to the value principle. Customers will be very unhappy if they are poorly executed or missing. If an ap you have to log into is missing a password recovery feature, you'll be very unhap when you need it. Do these really well won't make your users happy. It will just minimize their unhappiness.
