Kirk Kirk's Criticism of Contemporary Neuroscience
Matt Welch: In many ways, Kirk does this throughout the book. There are a lot of times where kind of within his program, you know, he's obsessed with looking for the theory of consciousness that explains the thing. And when anyone brings up anything else about kind of the functionality of consciousness or kind of the questions that science today is able to answer about consciousness, he kind of laughs it off. He thinks like until you have a theory of consciousness, none of that matters. The stuff you're getting is basically just noise, like you're just not getting anything out of it. But I do think that there is that that's still an immense minority opinion.
