He was trying to get a demonstration of human civilizational design that was synergistic or at least compatible with ecological design. Some of his discoveries have applications that are still sort of invisible to most of us. Synergetics was about using and quoting Bucky, helping teach people how to think, not what to think. I don't think that there's any way that I would have been able to pursue what I've done in agriculture, renewable energy, community development without him.
