The Role of Sensory Processing in Autism
There's two types of autistic characteristic that we look for and that's fundamental to the definition. One is a tendency, let's say for visual, auditory, tactile inputs to experience those in ways that to non-autistic people are atypical. And then there's also a set of autistic characteristics that are too a flexibility. Both groups can struggle to understand each other, but ultimately one group is much more affected by that divide. For Lab, those challenges first started to be apparent when she was very young.
