Ibn Sinner was arguing with Al-Buruni about Aristotle's theory of the natural world. He became exasperated at his opponent's refusal to accept his answers. Eventually, Ibn Sinner stopped responding and gave up correspondence altogether. The letters are invaluable in demonstrating the debates on natural philosophy which were taking place at the turn of the new millennia.
