The Role of Humor in the Rhetorical Style of Voltaire
I wanted to ask yueci about the the role of humor in his rhetorical style and in the building the argument. It's such a pleasure to read his unbelievably dry wit at work. If you can get someone to laugh at something they had thought of as sacred, i don't mean that even necessarily in a religious sense at all, right? You're now laughing at a certain pedantic, scholarly world. So humor wit producing that laugh.
