The Importance of Being Orthodox
Just Orthodox are people who in many respects had attitudes like my own towards institutional religion and towards religiosity. Many do not know doctrine they don't know anything about the liturgy, and they don't formally practice. They're not looking to make any kind of statement about an allegiance to the Moscow Patriarchate or to Russia or to Russian Orthodox or anything of that nature. It allows them to be sort of free agents, if you will. And I think I wanted to focus on this group of people because when you look at a lot of statistical analysis, those up until late 2021 were the largest group of pro-Russian forces along the Ukrainian border.
