It was ideological in the 19 fifties and he 19 sixties, that was the height of the cold war. The c i a's interest was in toppling democratically elected governments using really evil, covert, illegal criminal tactics. But they also funded abstract painters like jackson pollock whowa who were painting weird shapes on canvases. How does that help them win wars? They're borrowing from the world of art to engage in colonizing warfare. Very sneaky stuff.
