Gramsci's the Prince

Gramsci is struggling with how can he develop a notion of the party that doesn't look like an authoritarian party and yet also does not disavow that there must be leaders and the lead. He's trying to figure out so what it could be the productive relationship between leadership and those who are led that actually leans towards democratic centralism rather than bureaucratic centralism. I admit and I'd be interested to hear what you all say, I see that he's making a distinction there. When he actually hold that distinction, I guess might be the question I have.
