Elizabeth Becker wrote the first book on over tourism six years ago and since then she says, it's only gotten worse. globalization at the turn of this century for the very first time, probably in history, meant all of the borders for the countries of the world were open to travel. You could travel halfway across the globe now with no stops, just direct. With rapid growth of a middle class around the globe, particularly in China, which now is the number one source of tourists and it's only going to get larger.
