CHAPTER

The Generational Immunological Memory Transfer

Dr. Nitya's work was very interesting at a high level, the fact that there is generational immunological memory transfer that's epigenetic. More and more data have become available that indeed transmission of immune traits can be done also across generations. I think that by far the most solid information on that comes from plants, for example. If a plant is infected with a pathogen, with a virus or a fungus, it will become more resistant. But very interestingly, this resistance can be transmitted through seeds, through epigenetic processes for up to four or five generations. And lately also, there are more and more studies showing that similar type of processes are probably taking place also in vertebrates
