The Origin of Morality in Mythology and Ritual

In a god fearing mind, the fear of god is the beginning of morality. The attempt may be made to resolve this dialectic of amoral gods and religious morality in terms of historical development. In ritual and myth logy, there is obviously a no to every yes, an antithesis to every thesis. Order and dissolution, inside and outside life and death. And then he goes on to say ethical postulates can never succeed in mastering the whole reality and nature. They achieve no more than partial clearings amid the impenetrable chaotic mass.
