As a boy, as a boy trying to understand the world around me, I quickly discovered Winston Churchill as a hero. And yet not De Gaulle. Partly because De Gaulle so irritated Churchill. But reading De Gaulle's memoirs and then understanding more of his sense of France, he was one of the indispensable men of the 20th century. We can continue to learn from him in the 21st.
