The issue is the protection of a cartel who imports Chinese-made stuff and sells them at a profit to poor Kenyans. So China's centrality as a manufacturer is unattacked in this case. We're only talking about Chinese goods. And what then also happens, I think this is very true in South Africa too, is that leaders are frequently completely indifferent to the fact that the people who are paying inflated prices are very, very poor.
