In an evolutionary standpoint, you are in a better position to lean probabilistically that people are going to be trustworthy and generous. The reason those stories are so attractive about these con artists is because they're rare. It's why the science is so great to show that when two women join an organization or team, just that one person of them having an ally changes the cultural dynamics.

For too long, the term insubordination has evoked negative feelings and mental images. But for ideas to evolve and societies to progress, it’s vital to cultivate rebels who are committed to challenging conventional wisdom and improving on it. Change never comes easily. And most would-be rebels lack the skills to overcome hostile audiences who cling desperately to the way things are.
