The Importance of Conviction Rates in Rape Cases
Conviction rate for rape is 57.9%, and the conviction rate overall is 83.1%. They're much more difficult cases to take before the courts because they tend not to happen in public with witnesses there, she says. Do you think perhaps that we should take rape cases away from juries and have them tried by judges and assessors? I think that's a really interesting and very difficult question - it may be something about potentially some research that needs to be done.
